Oh Italy. You lure me in with your ancient ruins, your seductive language, and your mouth-watering food. I come to you like like a child to a lollypop. But then you hit me on the head with said lollypop (or maybe a pizza?) because you are SO expensive. Although I think I faired decently at $71/day on average with much travelling – it still made my wallet cry as I enjoyed that gelato and pasta! So how did I spend these $71 per day?

The Islands of Lace and Glass – I am speaking of none other than Burano and Murano. The two islands North of Venice. The cities are both distinctively beautiful with their signature traditions of both lace making and glass blowing. Getting lost in Venice is the only way to see Venice. At least I think so. The main square – San Marco’s is packed with tourists and so is the waterfront near the square. The tourists come off cruise ships in hoards and people come for two days – they may not have a lot of time, so they don’t explore much – but this is 100% to my advantage. It was easy to leave these streets and Get Lost in Venice.
