I went to Casablanca for 1 reason: to see the stunning Hassan II Mosque. Typically non-Muslims are not allowed to enter any mosques, but this giant of a Mosque does in fact let foreigners inside, during very specific times. I had to take advantage of this. I was dying to see the inside of any Mosque – But I was dying of angst at the chance to see the inside of THIS Mosque.
Fes is not the capital of Morocco nor is it the cultural centre. But Fes is the location of the oldest University in the World dated back to 859. Fes has a labrynth of a Medina (Market) which hosts more than 9000 laneways. Try NOT getting lost in it. The Medina is also home to an incredible plethora of smells, foods, stalls, and above all – colours!
