Bolivia is truly beautiful. And one of its best assets are the landscapes; The open space; The colours of nature, mountains and plains. Bolivia has some of the most surreal high-altitude scenery. The country has everything; Mountains, Volcanoes, Salt Flats, Plains, Lagunas, and Flamingos. To share with you the feeling of freedom I felt standing in the middle of this for 4 days during my Salar de Uyuni tour, here is a photo diary of Bolivian landscapes.
When I went to Bolivia, I was expecting to be amazed by the Salar de Uyuni (Salt Flats). That is the main reason I went there. But what I found was one of the most visually stunning countries I’ve ever visited.
Taking my 4 day tour through the Bolivian Salar de Uyuni, we spent a day passing through a Reserve which had mossy grounds being chomped on by llamas, and volcanos standing as a beacon in the distance.
Photo of the Week: Bolivia’s Reserva Nacional de Fauna Andina Eduardo Avaroa
While crossing Bolivia on my 4 day Salar de Uyuni tour I passed some incredible landscapes. One of my favourite spots was inside the Reserva Nacional de Fauna Andina Eduardo Avaroa.
2011 is divided. I spent the first 4 months completing my undergraduate degree in Ottawa, Canada. I only made it out of the city during my Reading Week and headed to Mount Tremblant, Quebec to snowboard. In February I accepted a job in Buenos Aires, Argentina and moved there in May. I stayed in my position until December 2011 and then began traveling South America for the last leg of 2011 and into 2012. So Far – I’ve had an incredible year. Spending 8 months in 2011 in South America learning Spanish, meeting so many incredible people both working and traveling, and getting a new understanding of myself and knowledge that I want to return to school for my Masters degree.
Although I was living the last 10 months in South America – I only starting this budget during my 51 day backpacking trip through Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, and Peru.
Day 27 – Isla del Sol, Bolivia – Happy New Years 2012
Sun Island eh? Due to rainy season, this name is only true from 11:00 -19:00. That is ok. I still managed to walk the entire Island in this short time frame, AND visit a few ruins.
