My obsession with ruins was fully satisfied after visiting Athens. And the fact that I explored them all for free? Well that makes the entire situation even more satisfying. So what ruins did I see while on this tour of Athens?
I wanted to visit Athens for its Ruins, but what I experienced was much more. I was welcomed kindly into a city that has received much negative press lately, and let its big city, busy streets, bustling markets charm me.
After watching sunset at The City in the Sky, I was eager to explore further. Whatever you feel is the best translation – Suspended Rocks, Suspended in the Air, or In the Heavens Above – you cannot deny the allure of the monasteries. They are a beacon in the sky calling for me to enter. So I tied up my laces and hiked Monastery to Monastery.
One of my favourite types of Books is Fantasy. I love the alternative worlds that are created, where kings and queens rule, and the land, creatures, and abilities of the populous have the slightest quirks to them that intrigue my imagination. Meteora matched every fantasy book I’d ever read
I went to Athen’s knowing history was a priority. Greek mythology, Greek power, Greek Wars. Greece is so important to our global history – I wanted to soak as much of it in as possible. I knew every piece of information taught to me would raise 10 more questions. My curiosity will be forever peaked in Greece. One story stood out above the rest. This is the Story of Marathon.
