I watched as this game went around the travel bloggers world last year. I wanted to join but waited patiently. And finally, 1 year later, my patience has paid off as I was nominated by my friends Skott and Shawna at Get Up and Globe!
Cambodia is a magical country known for its spirituality and temples; most famously Angkor Wat. These temples built by the Khmer capture the hearts and dazzle the eyes of all who visit. During the Khmer Rouge regime’s rule of the country from 1975 to 1979; overly 1 Million people were tortured and murdered. For the first part of 2010 I was on a University exchange program in Bangkok, Thailand attending Thammasat University. This was my first time in Asia and it stole my heart. I traveled around a lot due to the extremely cheap prices in South East Asia. I even headed north to Japan for 10 days to visit friends; which was the reason Japan got onto this list; I’d never afford Japan without my extremely generous friends who let me stay with them. My best friend Jeannie came to visit for the month of May and we did a whirlwind tour hitting the 4 countries of Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Singapore. I had a month off so headed to Indonesia before flying to the South of Philippines for a 2 month work placement. In September I returned to Canada to finish my last year of my undergraduate degree in the country’s capital of Ottawa.
