52-Week Book Challenge: Q3

GoodReads - 12 Book Covers

And in the last 3 months my life has done a 180 yet again. But my dedication to books and my New Years Resolution remained steadfast. I only read 12 books, so I didn’t maintain my one book a week, but I did start a new hobby with gusto and read many a thick sewing book and followed along with tutorials. So a new skill counts for something right?

GoodReads stats 37 of 52 for Q3

This means I need 15 books to complete my New Years Resolution. I won’t lie – I have NEVER kept a resolution before, I don’t even remember ever making one. So this is very exciting for me. And I have managed to expand my reading genres and found many new genres I thoroughly enjoy; namely Non-Fiction and Mystery. I love me a good serial killer thriller.

To organized these quarterly posts, I’m going to list the books I’ve read in chronological order. I’ll indicate the Title, Author, Genre, Pages, and Rating. Following that, I’ll provide my three book Recommendations, selected from this Quarters Reads, and write all the reasons why these books should be your next reads.

Favourite Quotes

“Odors have a power of persuasion stronger than that of words, appearances, emotions, or will. The persuasive power of an odor cannot be fended off, it enters into us like breath into our lungs, it fills us up, imbues us totally. There is no remedy for it.”  ― Patrick Süskind, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer

“It is a lovely oddity of human nature that a person is more inclined to interrupt two people in conversation than one person alone with a book.”  ― Amor Towles, Rules of Civility

“There are four simple ways for the observant to tell Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar apart: first, Mr. Vandemar is two and a half heads taller than Mr. Croup; second, Mr. Croup has eyes of a faded china blue, while Mr. Vandemar’s eyes are brown; third, while Mr. Vandemar fashioned the rings he wears on his right hand out of the skulls of four ravens, Mr. Croup has no obvious jewelery; fourth, Mr. Croup likes words, while Mr. Vandemar is always hungry. Also, they look nothing at all alike.”  ― Neil Gaiman, Neverwhere

“I am evolving from being an animal,’ he said. ‘But it is going very, very slowly. Sometime I try to cry and laugh like other people, just to see if it feels like anything. Yet tears don’t come. Laughter doesn’t come.”  ― Blaine Harden, Escape from Camp 14

“Eminemlettes: Caucasian girls from the wrong side of the tracks with big mouths and big attitudes, who weren’t taking shit from anyone(except the men in their lives). They had thinly plucked eyebrows, corn-rowed hair, hip-hop vocabularies, and baby daddies, and they thought Paris Hilton was the ne plus ultra of feminine beauty.” ― Piper Kerman, Orange is the New Black
