Photo of the Week: Anchored to Playa del Carmen
As the Canadian weather can’t decide if it’s Winter or Spring, I can’t help but feel giddy about the Christmas season fast approaching and being back again in my home town for the holidays. I’m temporarily anchored in Canada, but not for much longer.
This seadoo bobbing on the oceans waves makes me long for the heat of Mexico – as unrelenting as may be. But the distance is good for me. Staying put this month of December; working in a bookstore over the extreme bustle of the holidays and spending time with childhood friends; puts me at ease in a sense. I may be restless, but I still know that a life abroad if the life for me.
Life has been enjoyable back in Canada. I even took a one day jaunt to Toronto (2 hr plane ride each way is considered a Canadian jaunt). And as much as I love the familiarity of my country; the smiling faces of friends and family, the grocery aisle having everything I want, having a routine of work; I know I’m not ready to settle down permanently in Canada. I still desire to get up and move, to travel, to imagine, to learn something new every day – from the mundane to the grand. I still want to travel.
And travel I will. I’m moving to Australia in January 2013 to attend Graduate School at Griffith University in Southport. Hot weather here I come.
