Photo of the Week: Reed Boat on Lake Titicaca, Peru
Lake Titicaca was one of my favourite places in Peru. It was peaceful sitting at the edge of the Isla del Sol and looking out into the blues of the surrounding.
The reed boats are now used for show for tourists, but they are made from the natives of the island and they use what is available to them. The boats are soft to the touch but you can’t help but wonder if your boat is going to sink! The materials may be light and prone to float, but they also could act like a sponge and soak up all the water. And down down down I’d go.
This reed boat came floating across the water. I watched it for 20 minutes before it came within range of a better photo.
