Photo of the Week: Children Waving Goodbye in Sapa, Vietnam

Photo of the Week: Children Waving Goodbye in Sapa, Vietnam

Hiking through Sapa was breathtaking; not only from the stunning scenery but also from all the mud sliding that was occurring. But everywhere we went the children would come running. They would grasp to hold our hands, giggle at us falling on our bottoms, and always bring a smile to face as they excitedly waved us off the next day.

These are the children of Sapa. They are from the Hmoung People who are responsible for having carved the dramatic terraced rice fields into the steep mountain slopes. There are six Hmong tribes that reside in the Sapa Vietnam area; Black Hmong, Red Hmong, White Hmong, Chinese Hmong, Green Hmong, and Flower Hmong.
