3 Days in Taipei, Taiwan

3 Days in Taipei, Taiwan

Temples, temples, temples, oh my.

I spent 3 days in Taipei before going to the conference in Kaohsiung. Taipei is a very beautiful city with an absolutely inedible metro system. At each station, the Metro provides a map of the metro system, which has pictures, sights, and activities listed for every stop of the metro. It was a pre-made day plan! Since I love all things old – I went to a whole bunch of temples for the end at every end of Taipai. No, I never bore of them!

I stayed with a guy named Ken, who couchsurfed me for the 2 nights I was there. The first night he took me the the Memorial and we went to a kickboxing class. It was A LOT of fun but VERY tiring. I. Am. Lazy. Afterwards he took me to a night market and ordered me delicious Taiwanese food and BUBBLE TEA. Taiwanese bubble tea is fantastic. Forget coffee – I am addicted to Bubble tea now.

Then the second day, Ken had to work, so I wandered around by myself from metro station to metro station getting off to view temples and scenery. It was a leisurely day where I give thanks, again, to the simple and convenient Taipei metro station. Since I had an early train, I woke at 4am to catch it for 5:30am heading down South to Kaohsiung.

One of my favourite things about travel and different languages – when there are amazing translation fails: Kiss & Taxi anybody?
